Terms of Service
The rules and guidelines for using the Maina Data platform
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Maina Data's platform, including our website at mainadata.com.ng and all related mobile services (collectively, the "Platform"). Please read them carefully before using our services.
By creating an account or using any part of Maina Data, you agree to be legally bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our platform.
1 Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Maina Data, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Maina Data.
These Terms apply to all users of the Platform including individuals, resellers, and API users.
2 Eligibility
To use Maina Data, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old (or 16 with parental consent for basic services)
- Be a resident of Nigeria or have access to Nigerian network services
- Provide accurate and truthful information during registration
- Not be previously banned or suspended from the Platform
- Have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract
3 Account Registration
When you create an account, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete registration information
- Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate
- Keep your password confidential and not share it with anyone
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
- Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
⚠ Important: Maina Data will never ask for your password. If anyone asks for your password claiming to be from us, do not share it and report immediately.
We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts that provide false information or violate these Terms.
4 Our Services
Maina Data provides the following digital services:
- Airtime and data top-up for all Nigerian networks (MTN, Airtel, Glo, 9mobile)
- Cable TV subscriptions (DSTV, GOTV, StarTimes)
- Electricity bill payments for all DISCOs in Nigeria
- Exam tokens (WAEC, NECO, NABTEB scratch cards)
- JAMB services (result printing, admission letters, CAPS)
- NIN and BVN verification
- CAC business registration
- Airtime-to-cash conversion
- API services for developers
We reserve the right to add, modify, or discontinue any service at any time. Service availability may vary depending on third-party providers.
5 Wallet & Payments
Your Maina Data wallet allows you to fund your account and pay for services. The following rules apply:
- Wallets are funded via bank transfer to your assigned virtual account number
- Wallet funds are non-transferable to other users unless explicitly permitted
- We are not a licensed bank; your wallet is a prepaid service credit, not a bank deposit
- All transactions are final once processed successfully
- Prices for services are subject to change without prior notice
- We may impose transaction limits for security purposes
Always verify transaction details before confirming. Maina Data is not responsible for transactions made to incorrect numbers or accounts due to user error.
6 Prohibited Activities
You must not use Maina Data for any of the following:
- Fraudulent transactions or identity theft
- Creating multiple accounts to abuse promotions or bonuses
- Using the platform for money laundering or illegal financial activities
- Attempting to hack, reverse-engineer, or disrupt our systems
- Sharing your account with others or reselling access without authorization
- Submitting false dispute claims or chargebacks fraudulently
- Using bots or automated tools to abuse our services
- Impersonating Maina Data staff or other users
Violations may result in immediate account suspension, forfeiture of wallet balance, and possible legal action.
7 Transaction Disputes & Refunds
If a transaction fails or is not delivered:
- Failed transactions where your wallet was debited will be automatically reversed within 24 hours
- For unresolved issues, contact support within 7 days of the transaction
- Refunds are only issued for failed deliveries confirmed on our end
- Successfully delivered services cannot be reversed or refunded
- NIN/BVN verification fees are non-refundable once the lookup is processed

8 Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Nigerian law, Maina Data shall not be liable for:
- Losses resulting from network outages or downtime from third-party providers
- Delays caused by banks, network operators, or government agencies
- Losses due to user error (wrong number, incorrect meter number, etc.)
- Unauthorized account access resulting from compromised user credentials
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages of any kind
Our maximum liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount of the transaction in question.
9 Termination
Either party may terminate the account relationship:
- By you: You may delete your account at any time via our Delete Account page
- By us: We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, engage in fraud, or if required by law
Upon termination, your remaining wallet balance (if any) will be assessed and processed according to our refund policy. Data related to completed transactions may be retained for regulatory compliance.
10 Intellectual Property
All content on the Maina Data platform — including logos, design, text, graphics, software, and trademarks — is the property of Maina Data and is protected by Nigerian copyright and intellectual property laws.
You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our content without written permission.
11 Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, including:
- The Nigeria Data Protection Regulation (NDPR)
- The Consumer Protection Act
- The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) guidelines on digital financial services
Any disputes shall be resolved through good faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes will be submitted to a competent court in Nigeria.
12 Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. When we make material changes:
- We will update the "Last Updated" date above
- We will notify users via SMS or email
- Continued use of the platform after changes means you accept the new Terms
